There is an old saying that you can't tell the players without a scorecard. Put another way, you can't measure, respond to and control what you cannot see. And, in what is increasingly a real-time economy, where both our personal and business lives rely more and more on the applications we use, how those applications are performing in a business context has become truly mission critical.
IT organizations need to change their approach when delivering to sales and marketing teams.
It may not come as much of a surprise that the U.S. federal government is horribly wasteful, operating with massive amounts of bulk and overhead while doing little to trim the fat. Technology is no exception but what may come as a shock is congressional acknowledgment of the government's massive software licensing waste problem.
Patches to the network - it sounds like we're running our data on a pair of blue jeans with big, sticky, iron-on patches that preserved the pants a little bit longer, while also protecting the knees. The idea is similar, even if the application is a bit more high-tech. The goal is preservation, but how do you be sure that the steps taken are the ones that will keep your network safe?
